Professor Chen Lin

Chen Lin is professor of English and linguistics at Beijing Foreign Studies University, China and has a teaching history of more than half a century. He has been involved in coursebook writing of different levels and was the writer of the first set of coursebooks for college English majors for the young Republic during the fifties. He was a translator of the Selected Works of Mao Zedong.
Since 2001, Chen has been editor of the New Standard English series for schools of China in collaboration with Simon Greenall as editor on the British side. The series is a joint venture project between Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press of China and Macmillan. Currently Professor Chen Lin is an adviser on the Macmillan English Dictionary project, and is heading the group of experts for the compilation of China's National Curriculum Standards of EFL. He is also President of China Basic Foreign Language Education Research and Training Centre (CHINA BFLE) based in Beijing.
Currently involved with the foreign language work in preparation for the 29th Olympics te be held in Beijing in 2008 as Chairman of an experts committee, Professor Chen is a long time educator and is at present Vice-President of Beijing Geely University.
