I divide my time between writing ELT materials and teaching in Oxford, UK, where I have taught for over 15 years. During this time I have taught in Paris and Macedonia and very briefly in India and Vietnam while backpacking my way around Asia.
I have been involved in several ELT courses, including co-writing two levels of the brand new Move, writing and contributing to various components of Inside Out and writing resource material for the business course In Company. I have also been involved in a number of other ELT resource books and Internet-based writing projects, including materials for the Macmillan Dictionaries resource site.
I enjoy the challenge, in both my writing and teaching, of trying to make classroom activities as meaningful, engaging and as enjoyable as possible. I particularly enjoy giving talks and workshops in different countries and meeting the teachers and students who may, or may not, use our books.
I am currently doing an MA TESOL, in which I am focusing particularly on grammar: what actually is it and how do we learn it?
My ambition is to one day find the time to pick up my drumsticks and play the drums again.
