Sharon has a strong editorial background, having worked as a journalist, technical writer and editor in fields ranging from the automotive and engineering industries, to finance, healthcare and education. She studied Latin American Studies at the University of Liverpool, living for a year in Colombia, where she worked with a Colombian children’s charity and taught English as a foreign language. After finishing her degree, she assisted in the development of bilingual (Spanish-Quechua) teaching resources for undergraduate students of Quechua, one of the indigenous languages of the Andes.
Sharon went on to complete a Research Masters degree in Applied Linguistics at the University of Newcastle, focusing on bilingualism among Spanish / indigenous language-speakers in South America.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling - particularly to Latin America - reading and translating Spanish, and salsa dancing.
