MED wins British Council Innovation Award

British Council Innovation Awards - Winner 2004The Macmillan English Dictionary range of products and services was one of the three main winners of the 2004 British Council Innovation Awards for English language teaching products and services. The Awards are offered to outstanding new language learning resources which use innovative ideas to help learners of English achieve their goals. Another Macmillan Education product, Macmillan English Campus was singled out for special commendation by the judges. The 12 shortlisted innovations also included Designing Language Teaching Tasks from Palgrave Macmillan.

 

MED and the BBC World Service

The Macmillan English Dictionary featured prominently in the last of a six-part radio series from the BBC World Service called 'Innovations in Teaching'. The series looked at challenges and changes in the world of ELT and suggested innovative ideas and products for teachers to take away. The final episode, 'Reference revolution' discussed what goes into producing a dictionary, and why English language dictionaries are at the forefront of the Reference Revolution.

Learners of English in Russia, Kenya, Poland, Estonia & Latvia all had the chance to hear about the Macmillan English Dictionary first-hand. Macmillan also sponsored the English-Speaking Union competition in Hungary, and the English-Speaking Union International Public Speaking Competition Final in London.
