Launch Party
On 3rd May, we celebrated the launch of the MED2 at Shakespeare's Globe in London.
We gathered in a fantastic setting on the banks
of the River Thames, in front of the Globe and Tate Modern, with St Paul's and the wobbly Millennium Bridge behind us, and released thousands of red balloons. About 150 people joined us straight afterwards for a party in the UnderGlobe - teachers and DoSs from language schools, the press, representatives from the BBC World Service, the British Council, Macmillan authors, distributors and booksellers, and many people who were involved in the writing and production of the MED2 and all its components.
Andrew Marr, the BBC journalist and commentator, was our special guest and gave a wonderful address linking the atmosphere of Shakespeare's London with its international influences, to the London of today and the importance of a dictionary that helps learners find their way.
